Ronald Kocur won $20,000 a month for 10 years as part of the "Decades of Dollars" $10 scratch-off game. That equals out to $2.4 million over the decade.
Kocur chose to take the lump sum of $1.56 million (before taxes) rather than the monthly stipends.
He told lottery officials that he wants to buy a new car with the cash and fund his child's college tuition.
Kocur bought the ticket at 5:30 a.m. while getting coffee at Gulf Express at 160 Andover Street in Danvers. The store will receive a $24,000 bonus for selling the winner.
